StepUp Workshop – What Will Happen Guide
In the spirit of apprenticeship, our workshop will introduce you to some of the repertoire of the evening’s performance, StepChange. Jenny Hayes, formerly dancer with the Richard Alston Company, will lead a technique-based warm up, before she and Mary Pat Robertson teach extracts from the works that you will see performed later in the evening programme. We have invited artists to draw us as we work. The workshop is open to all and you will be guided to work within your level of skill and confidence. You know your body best and need to take full responsibility for working within your limits. Both teachers are fully covered by Public Liability insurance and will remind you of working safely.
1 The workshop will begin promptly at 16.00. Please arrive ten minutes beforehand if you want to change; toilet facilities are excellent and appropriate to change in. Wear comfortable clothes that you can move freely in.
2 Please bring a water bottle and keep hydrated during the workshop.
3 As we will be working in the main nave of the church space, there are differing types of flooring; we strongly advise you to wear soft-soled dance shoes to protect your feet.
4 If you are staying to attend the performance at 19.00, there are a variety of cafes and restaurants in the near vicinity catering for all budgets.
We look forward to dancing with you.
